According to police spokesman, Hekmatullah Kochi, atatckers, who had joined the force just three days earlier, shot the policemen in a village in Zhari district of Kandahar Province on Wednesday.
The Wednesday attack was the latest in a series of shootings in which members of the Afghan security forces have targeted their local and foreign colleagues.
“Unfortunately four of our brave local police were killed and two others injured in this cowardly attack,” Kochi said.
The police said that the shooters had successfully escaped the scene after the shooting.
At least 26 people have been killed this year in 18 attacks by Afghan security forces on their allies from the US-led NATO forces in the country, according to AFP.
Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of some thousands US-led forces in the war-torn country.
The US-led war in Afghanistan, with civilian and military casualties at record highs, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.
