A collection of aerial photos taken in the 1940s is providing an amazing glimpse of the Sydney of years gone by.
The photos — taken while Australia was at war — are available in a searchable format similar to Google Maps.
They are available at lite.maps.nsw.gov.au.

Please bear in mind that Sydney has grown a lot since the 1940s so many modern areas of the city are not covered.
