I was sitting at the intersection of Packanack Lake traffic light and Route 23 (in picture) when the traffic light turned to a green arrow to make a left. I proceeded to make the left turn into the center lane of the highway when I noticed the Passaic County Sheriff have another vehicle stopped, inspecting the trailer. Adhering to our state’s “Move Over law” I proceeded to stay in the middle lane until I was passed the officer and vehicle in which I accelerated to 55mph and moved to the right lane to proceed to the service ramp by the Kohl’s Department store in which I stopped at a red traffic light. The light turned green and that’s when I saw the Passaic County Sheriff rush up the highway and into the dividing line hash-marks to where he stopped and sat. At the time I thought he was just going to run radar however when I passed him he immediately cut behind me and turned on his lights.
Confused, I pulled into the shopping center and proceeded to pull over and unclick my seat belt however traffic was building and I was blocking some cars so I proceeded to move to a different location. That is when the video below begins (also why my sense of frustration was heightened at the beginning since I am trying to give the officer a safer location and he hits the siren).
The officer wrote the ticket at 1:55pm, Held me for 24 minutes because I sported a CopBlock badge (not even aggressive in showing it nor was I going to however he inquired about it).
A total of 5 Passaic County Sheriff cars showed up (one came and left and the other 4 stayed on scene).
I
was issued 6 tickets:
39:4-97 – Careless Driving – Accelerating to the speed limit
39:4-97.3 – Use of Wireless Device – Recording the Stop
39:3-70 – Noisy Muffler
39:3-33 – Missing/Fictitious Plate
39:3-66 – Maintenance of Lamps
39:3-74 – Obstruction of View – Out of view Windshield Stickers (activism web sites)
This is not where this ends however.
I am a local activist who is 100% behind the accountability movement and wishes to see the cops more on a humanitarian level and to see less extortion of hard working american citizens. I also blogged about this interaction at my website, zorlofmedia.com, where I stated:
” To the officers that initiate force on peaceful people, non-violent people. I hope that when you go to ticket someone for arbitrary laws, arrest someone for a non-violent crime, a victimless crime or offense you remember what your true job is. I hope that every time you clock in to your shift and you get in that squad car, you remember what you swore an oath to and that you are still human. Once you turn from a human to a robot, I will remind you that you are only still human, not above me, the guy next to me or the girl next to me or anyone around you. Badges..Do…Not…Grant..Extra..Rights. “
Shortly after posting that I received a comment from an alias “Mr. Good Guy” which said, “We see the videos and know what he says. That’s why he will get crushed every time he gets stopped. Good luck getting around on 23 Mike”
Now I feel that because I speak out for the better of humanity I am a target because I made fun of their boy scout club. I have submitted a 2 page discovery request with the state and I am still waiting to hear from the department about them. I know I deserve 2 of those tickets as far as arbitrary law is concerned (no front plate which fell off and no 3rd brake light which burnt out).
I have a lot of backing here from local followers. I know that CopBlock can have some interesting users that claim to just want to kill cops and it may give it a bad rap but I strongly believe in this movement. I’m not out to hurt anyone, just want to see a better world and now because I am doing that… I feel I am a target to the machine. I am also apparently on Wayne Police’s “activist” list (whatever that means) and I was told that it would cost $1200 to get a FOIA request from them.. I guess we’ll see. I’ll keep you updated as this case plays out.
