Associated Press – Detroit police have been picking up homeless people in the city’s popular Greektown entertainment district and dumping them miles away in remote neighborhoods and even outside the city, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan. The individual and civil rights organization said it filed a complaint Thursday with the U.S. Justice Department and sent a letter to city and police officials demanding an end to the practice, Rana Elmir, an ACLU spokeswoman told The Associated Press. The complaint follows a yearlong investigation by the organization, which listed the stories of five people who said they were “taken for a ride” by Detroit police. Read Article
