PC manufacturer Acer revealed more details on Thursday about its razor-thin, elegantly-designed Aspire S5 ultrabook device, which will become the world’s thinnest ultrabook computer.

Weighing in at just 2.65 pounds, the Acer Aspire S5 Ultrabook is just 0.44 inches at its thinnest spot and 0.59 at the thickest. Ultrabooks — which are ultra-slim laptops typically under 0.8 inches thick – have become increasingly popular among manufacturers and consumers, giving on-the-go users a lightweight, full-computer alternative.
Although the Aspire S5 was first announced at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in January, details about the device’s configurations have been limited. The device — available beginning the last week in June — will cost $1,399.

The Aspire S5 may be super thin, but it touts a series of powerful specs, including a super-responsive third-generation Intel Core i7 processor and a 256GB solid state drive. With a 13.3-inch widescreen LED-backlit display (1366 x 768) and a 1.3 megapixel HD webcam, the device makes viewing and taking pictures and videos a visually-rich experience.

Designed in black with a magnesium-alloy and brushed metal chassis, the Aspire S5 ultrabook is also easy on the eyes. It also features an innovative MagicFlip I/O Port, which pops out to reveal hidden ports such as USB 3.0, HDMI and Thunderbolt. This is the first ultrabook to conceal the ports, adding to the overall sleekness of the device.
The news comes as Acer launched on Wednesday its latest Android tablet, the 32GB Iconia Tab A700 tablet — which is currently available for pre-sale in U.S. and Canada for $449.99.
Meanwhile, the company recently became one of the first manufacturers to reveal Windows 8 tablets at the Computex trade show in Taiwan. The Acer Iconia W700 and W510 include pop out of keyboard docks, which transition from laptops into tablets.
