BP seals $7.8 bn settlement in US oil spill
AFP – Oil giant BP said Wednesday it has finalized a $7.8 billion deal to settle thousands of claims from fishermen and others affected by the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The settlement, which must still be approved by a judge, will resolve the “substantial majority of eligible private economic loss and medical claims stemming from the Deepwater Horizon accident and oil spill,” BP said in a statement.
