A powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake has struck South Asia with tremors felt in northern Pakistan, India and Afghanistan
Dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries have been reported and there are fears the death toll will rise.
Pakistani officials have reported four deaths and an official in Badakhshan said there were reports of casualties and destruction.
The head of provincial disaster agency reported that 12 schoolgirls have been killed in the city of Taloqan, Takhar Province, in northeastern Afghanistan while attempting to escape the quake
The head of Nangahar provincial hospital has said there have been five deaths in Afghanistan, with 55 people injured.

The US Geological Survey said the quake had a 7.5 magnitude, with the epicentre in the province of Badakhshan, which borders Tajikistan and China, in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan’s far north. It said the quake occurred at a depth of 130 miles (210km).
The tremor was felt in the Pakistan capital, Islamabad, where buildings rattled for at least two minutes.
