The quake took place on Sunday at 0441 GMT and its epicenter, with a depth of 57.70 kilometers, was initially determined to be at 42.5113 degrees north latitude and 142.9201 degrees east longitude.
The latest earthquake comes over two weeks after a Japanese parliamentary panel’s report said the March 2011 incident at the Fukushima nuclear plant was a “man-made disaster” and not only a result of the tsunami that hit the country last year.
The report said, “According to this commission’s study, on March 11, it is believed that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant was in a vulnerable condition with no guarantee it could withstand earthquakes and tsunamis.”
