A four-year-old boy has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne’s north.
Police said it is believed the boy was hit by a four-wheel drive at South Morang about 9.30pm (AEST) on Sunday.
He was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries but died late on Sunday.
The driver of the 4WD is assisting police with inquiries.
Police are appealing for the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
The boy’s death brings Victoria’s road toll to 116, three more than at the same time last year.
