Several others, including civilians, were also injured after armed groups fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad blew up a booby-trapped car in Qudssaya district on Friday, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.
Earlier on Friday, two law enforcement personnel and three civilians were also killed after terrorist groups blew up a car laden with explosives in the industrial region of northwest Syrian city of Idlib. The blast also caused substantial damage to several buildings.
Meanwhile, Syrian authorities have confiscated a large consignment of weapons and ammunition in Wadi al-Fatleh area, in Damascus countryside. The weapons, which were smuggled into Syria from Lebanon, include advanced US-made sniper rifles, Israeli machineguns and explosive devices, and French-made LAO rockets.
Syrian rebels have intensified their attacks since last week after abandoning Kofi Annan’s peace plan.
On Monday, the terrorist Free Syrian Army announced that the rebel fighters have killed more than 100 soldiers across the country over the weekend.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011 and many people, including hundreds of security forces, have been killed in the country over the past 15 months.
While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
