3 British Muslims face terrorism charges

Scotland Yard said in a statement that three British Muslims were charged with traveling to Pakistan between 2010 and 2012 “with the intention of committing acts of terrorism or assisting another to commit such acts”.

The terror charges against the British Muslims come two weeks after they were arrested in what the British police called a pre-planned anti-terror operation.

Earlier this month, armed police in London carried out early-morning raids, battered down the door of a house just one mile from a stadium in Stratford home to the 2012 London Olympic Games, and arrested three people over what they called a suspected terror plot.

“I heard the biggest bang ever and I saw a massive cloud of smoke and torches going up at the windows. It sounded like they were gunshots”, said a witness living near the house.

The arrests and charges come after Jonathan Evans, the head of Britain’s internal Security Service MI5, said there was a large number of individuals “in cars and on the streets” in Britain “talking about wanting to mount terrorist attacks here”.
