Brinks truck |
A man was shot and seriously wounded after he attempted to rob a Brinks money truck in Israel, according to press reports in Israel.
Basically, the robbery attempt had gone wrong, as the man, who was identified by police to be around 30-years-old, sustained a moderate to severe gunshot wound caused by the heavily armed Brinks guards, apparently, after trying to rob a cash from the truck, police said.
The robbery incident and shooting occurred on Herzl Street on the Israeli city of Ashkelon, near the HaMashbir department store in the city. Paramedics from Magen David Adom arrived and evacuated the wounded to Barzilai Hospital. “We received a call about a man who was shot,” MDA spokesperson Zaki Heller, said. “A Mobile Intensive Care Unit was dispatched which found the man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. The paramedics gave him medical treatment while the man was fully conscious,” the spokesperson added.
A man who witnessed the incident told news reporters: “I was at the HaMashbir entrance, when suddenly I heard gunfire from about 50 feet away. I started to run toward the scene and that is when I saw two security guards struggling with the suspect behind a branch of Bank Hapoalim, just about 20 meters away from the bank branch.
The security guard first fired in the air, but when the suspect went to fight them, they shot him. I never saw if he had a weapon, but he had something that looked like a stun gun. They continued to fight him and shot him again near the Brinks truck.
