Palestinian police at the tomb of Yosef

During a recent visit to the tomb of Yosef, in the Palestinian controlled West Bank city of Nablus, a group of Jewish people made a shocking discovery, according to press reports in Israel.

Visitors to Yosef’s tomb in Nablus, were surprised to discover on Wednesday night extreme vandalism at the important holy site. Muslims smashed furniture, destroyed books and defaced walls with anti-Semitic graffiti. There was also evidence that vandals had tried to burn the structure down. In addition, human and animal waste are found throughout the site.

Gershon Mesika, joined more than 2,500 others Wednesday night visiting the site. The visit was organized by the Regional Council of Samaria and the Shechem Echad organization. Visitors were accompanied by IDF soldiers and police.

Council Chairman Gershon Mesika called the Samaria IDF officials to express his dismay of the damage. “Only barbarians are capable of doing terrible things like this, the destruction of a sacred place,” Mesika said. The State of Israel must reclaim the tomb of Yosef, as described in the Oslo Accords. We need to return to power, restore faith and our presence at the gravesite,” he said.

Deputy Director Yossi Dagan pointed an accusing finger at the Palestinian Authority police who are

supposed to protect the site. “The Palestinian police are responsible for the site when IDF soldiers are not present. They have shown long ago that they have lost all semblance of humanity.

These are the terrorists who murdered Ben Yosef Livnat in uniform and now they disposed their waste and tried to burn the gravesite,” Dagan said.

The large crowd of Jews who had come to worship at the site were forced to wait outside as soldiers and police cleaned up the vandalism.
