2007 report on Rense.com links St. Louis County Police Department to notorious Blackwater mercenary group

In October of 2007, Rense.com published a report regarding the training of United States police officers by the mercenary group Blackwater. For those with short memory spans, let me remind you that the mercenary group ‘Blackwater’ gained national attention for their ‘Shoot first, Justify later’ tactics used against unarmed Iraqi civilians at Nisur Square four years into the Iraq war. The troops privately employed by the security firm Blackwater claimed their lives were in danger and that they acted in self-defense when they killed 14 and injured 18 unarmed civilians. It was later reported by Assistant US Attorney Patrick Martin that many of the victims were just trying to escape the gunfire of the Blackwater guards. Sound familiar?

In October of 2007, Rense.com published a report regarding the training of United States police officers by the mercenary group Blackwater. Many police and sheriff offices were listed in the report, including both the Los Angeles and Chicago Police departments; but, at that time there are also other not so commonly known names included on the list; and, one police department in particular stands out among the rest, the St. Louis County Police Department. Coincidence or not, take another look at the militarized response we witnessed in Ferguson, Missouri by the same St. Louis County Police Department named in the 2007 Rense.com report and judge for yourself.

In 2011, four former guards of the security firm Blackwater faced indictment by a Washington grand jury including charges of voluntary manslaughter, attempt to commit manslaughter, and using a firearm in a crime of violence; 33 charges in total. In summary, the guards were accused of opening fire on unarmed Iraqi citizens without provocation and alleged to have later boasted about the shooting because as stated on rt.com, the guards harbored deep-rooted hostility towards Iraqis. After reading this and considering the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, the question we should ask ourselves is, what deep-rooted hostilities might the St. Louis County Police department harbor, and how have they been trained by Blackwater to handle those feelings?
