$20,000 raised for Baden-Clay children

More than $20,000 has been raised for the children of murdered Brisbane mother Allison Baden-Clay.

About 2000 people from across Brisbane turned up on Sunday to a cricket match between fire fighters and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers to raise money for her three daughters.

The children’s father Gerard Baden-Clay is in custody charged with her murder.

The fundraiser was held by a local cricket club in the family’s community at the Brookfield showgrounds west of Brisbane.

Brookfield United Cricket Club president and event organiser Mike Kaye told AAP many people had been touched by the tragedy.

“We wanted to bring the community together to help the girls and their family,” Mr Kaye said.

“The huge turnout shows how much people care.”
