2 Djiboutian troops killed in Somalia

On Friday, the assailants hurled a grenade into a compound housing Djiboutian troops on the industrial road in Mogadishu.

According to a report, residents said it was the first time that Djiboutian soldiers were killed. They added that four others were wounded.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Djibouti deployed 900 troops to Mogadishu to boost a peacekeeping force protecting the embattled Somali government against militants.

The Horn of Africa nation is the third country to send troops to Somalia as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Ugandan and Burundian troops, currently numbering 12,000, are also part of the AMISOM contingent in Mogadishu.

Somalia has not had a functioning government since 1991, when warlords overthrew former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.
