It’s not everyday that we hear stories of bravery, resilience and strong-will. While they inspire us, teach us everything about persistence, they also make us feel thankful for the life we have.
We stumbled upon one such story, about a lion-heart young boy from Ranchi who did not let a frightful disease like cancer, defeat him. He emerged as a winner, the world can take inspiration from.
Meet Tushar Rishi, a bright young lad from Ranchi. Tushar has been battling with bone cancer since 2014 and he just scored 95% in his CBSE Board Exams. Talking about his condition, Tushar says –
“I AM IN A MUCH BETTER CONDITION NOW AFTER ALL THE TREATMENTS. BUT I HAVE TO VISIT AIIMS IN EVERY 3 TO 4 MONTHS FOR CHECKUPS AND UPDATES ON MY HEALTH.”
He scored 95 in English, 95 in physics, 93 in mathematics, 89 in computer and 100 in fine arts. Tushar had no extra coaching and his scores are superb!
Tushar’s life changed when he was about to appear for his class 10 board exams. He had just given his mock tests when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He underwent chemo for 11 months.–
“IT HAS OBVIOUSLY CHANGED ME A LOT, BUT I TRY AND STAY FOCUSED ON MY ACADEMICS.”
He couldn’t appear for his exams in the same year. Later in 2015, he scored a perfect 10 CGPA!
19-year-old Tushar, has also penned a wonderful book called ‘The Patient Patient’, that documents his journey of fighting the disease and staying positive through it all. Tushar’s mother, Ritu Agarwal who is a professor in BITS Mesra says –
“I HAVE SEEN HIM BATTLE CANCER AND I KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS FOR HIM. I HOPE HE STAYS HEALTHY AND ACHIEVES ALL HIS CAREER GOALS.”
Tushar’s father Shashi Bhushan Agarwal works in the state Agriculture department.
Tushar’s story is a lesson of grit, it teaches us how if we’re are determined to achieve the goals we set; NOTHING can deter us. A harrowing disease like cancer had to bend on its knees in front of this strong-willed boy, and that says everything.
Tushar, the world takes inspiration from you. We wish you great health and happiness.
