Another 17 people, mostly rescue workers, were also injured after fire erupted at a nursery in the Villaggio shopping mall on Monday.
Four of the children who died were Spanish. Four female teachers and two members of the civil defense were also killed in the fire.
It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze at the Villagio mall in Doha’s west end and Qatar’s interior ministry has said that it is being investigated.
“There don’t seem to have been any fire alarms or sprinklers at the mall,” Reuters quoted a relative of one of the victims as saying.
A ministry official told journalists that none of the dead were from Qatar.
