Palestinian medical sources in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, have reported that a child was shot and injured by a live round, fired by an Israeli settler in Beit Ummar, north of the city. Three were injured by Israeli rubber-coated metal bullets, and dozens suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation.

Mohammad Awad, coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Beit Ummar, stated that the child, Mohammad Hussein Abu Mariyya, age 16, was shot during clashes that took place in the ath-Thaher area, after a number of settlers invaded agricultural lands.

The child was shot in his right arm, while the bullet went through, penetrating his abdomen area, causing internal bleeding.

He was moved to the Hebron Governmental Hospital, in Hebron, suffering a moderate injury.

The settlers came from the Karmie Tzur illegitimate settlement, built on Palestinian lands south of Beit Ummar.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli soldiers were present in the area, and did not even attempt to remove the assailing settlers and, instead, attacked the Palestinians.

The soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets, wounding three Palestinian youth, and fired gas bombs at residents and a number of homes in the area, causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
