15 99-percenters arrested in St. Louis

St. Louis city officials said the police arrested the protesters at Compton Hill Reservoir Park on Friday.

Occupy movement activists said the police used pepper spray to disperse the protesters and two people were injured.

99-percenters from across the United States have gathered in St. Louis to attend the four-day Occupy the Midwest Regional Conference, which began on March 15.

The participants of the conference are demanding “accountability for the millions of dollars in bailouts Bank of America and other Wall Street banks have received from taxpayers, as well as the role Bank of America played in the housing loan crisis,” according to occupythemidwest.org.

The St. Louis police have conducted “brutal attacks” and made “unfair arrests” in the city, the Occupy movement activists said.

According to St. Louis city officials, a curfew has been imposed in the park that requires the protesters to leave the place by 10 p.m., and Occupy the Midwest participants are not allowed to have any structures, including tents, in the park.
