12 Transformative Thoughts & Actions That Can Boost Your Inner Energy

Our thoughts, or more so our beliefs, can greatly affect our reality. Connecting with things that make us feel grateful, uplifted or inspired can have a great impact on our lives. Whether it is through something small such as hearing a cat’s purr, or through a gift, we find ways and reasons to be positive all around us, but none is more powerful than our beliefs. The human mind is a powerful thing, as it is our entire being and existence. Every cell, every movement, every feeling — none of it would even exist without the brain. The simplest thought can bring a smile to our face or tear us down just as quickly as we picked ourselves up. Here are 12 transformative thoughts that will help you boost your inner energy.

1. Think About “Successful” People

Many of those who were successful in life started off as failures. Success is different to everybody but is often about being inspired by and feeling great about a mission or goal you achieved. For the longest time, these people may have been told, “You’re stupid” or “You’re not good enough.” However, that never stopped any of them. Walt Disney was labeled as “lacking creativity” and now Walt Disney is one of the largest corporations in the world, releasing beloved films every year. Oprah Winfrey was told she was “not pretty enough” for television, and she ended up hosting one of the most popular talk shows in the world. So on days you feel like a failure, just think about how successful people picked themselves up from their own failures and succeeded even when others did not believe in them.

2. Think About Someone Or Something You Love

A smile just spread across your face, didn’t it? The mind truly is amazing, that just thinking about something you love causes your brain to release a series of chemicals. This, in turn, makes you feel good about yourself, as well as what you’re thinking about. You may have thought about a family member you’re close to or your partner. Or perhaps you thought about the pet that’s asleep on the couch (even though he’s not supposed to be there.)

3. Be Grateful

Gratitude can change a lot for someone; even the simplest thank you has been proven to lower negative thought processes for both parties (the giver and the receiver). Naturally seeing someone smile at your thank you will make you feel happier as you go about your day. In addition to this, when you make a concerted effort to approach life with a grateful attitude, you will become more positive and resilient as a result of these changes.

4. Use The Best Sounds In The World To Put Pleasurable Thoughts In Your Head

Put yourself in a room with a pair of headphones, and only listen to things that would make you smile on a regular basis. Your favorite songs, popping bubble wrap, anything that just helps you to de-stress and be happier, can put a lot of positivity into your life.

5. Give Yourself A Reason To Smile Every Day

It can be anything really — stopping to appreciate a flower growing on the side of the road, listening to your favourite song, thinking of something nice someone said to you — no matter how big or small the reason, you should always find one to be able to smile. For a while, it will take lots of effort to find reasons to smile. Eventually, it will become habit. Try starting with a daily exercise of writing down 3 things that made you smile at the end of each day.

6. Clear Out “Negative” Self Thought & Move To An Empowered Reality

Negative self thought can come in the form of negative comparisons or judgements to others. For example, you may tell yourself that you are not as smart, attractive, or wealthy as someone else. Find the source of why you believe those things about yourself and clear out the core of how they got there. This will help you live a more balanced and neutral reality where you believe in yourself and ability and are not simply putting yourself down with your “negative” thought patterns.

7. Think Fond Thoughts About Your Mistakes

Mistakes lead to experience, which leads to learning. Mistakes are what help us learn good from bad, and how to learn pretty much everything we know. If we never made mistakes, we wouldn’t be able to stand up, walk, talk, or do any of those basic knowledge things we do every day. Our mistakes and how we learn from them are what define us. So, don’t spend time thinking about how badly you may have screwed up. Focus on what you learned.

8. Meditate

You can use meditation to put uplifting thoughts into your head and to rid your mind of toxic thoughts. Some people like to meditate by repeating a peaceful thought over and over to themselves. Other people like to visualize negative thoughts physically exiting their minds. A third option is to visualize a happy and fulfilling experience as you meditate. This could be the visualization of a happy memory, or the visualization of something that you wish to have happen to you in the future. If you want, you can even use an inspirational story.

9. “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” – Maya Angelou

Always remember this quote. It is a great way to remind yourself of the progress you have made, and the progress you will continue to make in the future. This is a great way to stay positive when you have hit the wall in trying to reach some goal.

10. Think Of Something Funny

Laughter and humor have an amazing impact on your mind and body. People who have a sense of humor and find reasons to laugh have even been shown to recover more quickly from illness and injury. Listening to a funny joke, recalling a funny moment, even watching some ridiculous YouTube videos are all great ways to add humor to your day. Finally, the more you develop your sense of humor, the more likely you will be to draw people to you that are equally positive and funny.

11. Eat A Meal That Takes You Home

Most people closely associate foods that they love with positive memories, thoughts, and interactions with others. Think of all the positive thoughts that can flood your mind if you simply recreate a favorite dish from your childhood, or that somebody you love has made for you recently. Think of all the positive thoughts you would have if you recreated an entire meal. Why not take it a step further and invite somebody to share the meal with you?

12. See The Benefits & Value of Others (Even Those You Don’t Like Much)

If you allow your mind to be occupied with negative thoughts, especially about other people, you will sabotage yourself by sapping your own emotional energy. As the saying goes, don’t let toxic people rent space in your head. Instead, try to find a way to turn those thoughts around. If you have negative thoughts about somebody who is frustrating or irritating, try to remind yourself of their positive attributes and focus on those. If you are dealing with negative thoughts about a person who is truly damaging, try to release their presence in your mind into the universe with the thought that they must be truly damaged to behave the way that they do. This will bring you a sense of peace and empowerment in knowing that this person can no longer cause you to dwell on negativity.
