$100k reward offered over suspected Sydney murder

Matthew Leveson has not been seen since September 2007. A reward has now been offered to find his body.

The family of a Sydney man believed murdered more than four years ago has made a tearful appeal for justice.

Matthew Leveson was last seen leaving Arq nightclub in Darlinghurst in September 2007.

His car was later found abandoned at Sutherland.

The New South Wales Government is now offering a $100,000 reward to help find Mr Leveson’s body.

The 20-year-old’s boyfriend, Michael Atkins, remains under investigation despite being acquitted of murder and manslaughter in 2009.

Mr Leveson’s parents made a renewed appeal for information today.

Faye Leveson says too many questions have been left unanswered.

“We’ve got no idea, did he suffer? How did he die? Is he intact?” she said.

“Those questions go through your head every single day, every waking moment.

“Where is he and what would he have been doing if he was still alive?

“It never leaves you, day in, day out, 24 hours of the day you think about it, you can’t let it go.”

Mark Leveson says his only hope is to find whoever is responsible for his son’s disappearance.

“I hate the C-word. We will not get closure. Closure for us, our standard is Matt knocking on our front door saying, ‘Sorry I haven’t called’. Nothing less,” he said.

“We’re looking for justice, not closure. We want Matt found and hopefully where he’s found to be a crime scene.

“The police can then do their job and those involved can be brought to justice.”
