10 Worst GMO crops & GE foods

In the US, unlike in Europe, giant agricultural corporations, known as “Big AG” have subverted the greater good for profit, and have been growing and selling untested and unregulated genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) dairy and crops for nearly twenty years, some since 1996.

Developed by Monsanto, the same folks who brought us Agent Orange and “Round-Up,” these foods can contain pesticides, herbicides, mutated proteins, growth hormones, antibiotics, bacteria, toxins, Viruses and allergens.

Not very appetizing.

  •  Aspartame:Aspartame artificial sweetener is a toxic additive used in numerous food products, and should be avoided for numerous reasons, including the fact that it is created with genetically modified bacteria.
  • Corn:US corn crops are highly modified.  Up to half of US farms growing corn for Monsanto are using genetically modified corn.  Monsanto’s GMO corn has been tied to numerous health issues, including weight gain and organ bloating & disruption. 
  • Soys bean or Soya:A vegetarian staple in tofu, soybean oil and soy flour, GMO soy is now modified to resist herbicides.  Approximately 90% of US soy is genetically engineered to resist Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup.  According to M.I.T., in one single year, 2006, 96.7 million pounds of glyphosate was sprayed on soybeans alone.
  • Dairy products contain growth hormones, with as many as one-fifth of all dairy cows in America pumped with these hormones.  In fact, Monsanto’s health-hazardous rBGH has been banned in 27 countries, but is still injected into most US cows.  Numerous studies of GMO foods produced horrific tumors in mice and rats. 
  • Canola:One of the most chemically altered foods in the US diet, canola oil is obtained from rapeseed through a series of chemical actions and is found in millions of processed foods.
  • Cotton:Found in cotton oil, most of the cotton originating in India and China has serious health risks.   Monsanto has also received criticism recently over their failed cotton crops in India, resulting in farmers committing suicide over their catastrophic losses.
  • Zucchini: Zukes are a green variety of squash.  Many other kinds of squash are genetically engineered.   Compare the GE squash on the left with the organic squash on the right.
  • Papayas:GMO papayas have been grown in Hawaii since 1999.  They can not be sold anywhere in the European Union, but they are sold and consumed throughout the US and Canada.
  • Sugar:Genetically-modified sugar beets were introduced to the US market in 2009.  They were genetically modified by Monsanto to resist herbicides.  Monsanto had USDA and court-related issues with the planting of its sugar beets, and was ordered to remove its seeds from the soil due to illegal maneuvers.
