On Friday, the protesters confronted each other in Alexandria’s Sidi Gaber district near Muslim Brotherhood offices, AFP reported.
Nine people were hurt and taken to hospital after the two sides started pelting each other with stones and Molotov cocktails.
Security forces were called to the area where they used tear gas to disperse the two sides.
One person was also injured at a demonstration outside Cairo’s High Court. The protesters were demanding the resignation of the current prosecutor general Talaat Abdallah, who was appointed by President Mohamed Morsi in December.
On March 27, an Egyptian court overturned Morsi’s decision to sack former prosecutor general Abdel Meguid Mahmoud and ordered his reinstatement.
The opposition has accused Morsi of using his power to promote the interests of the Muslim Brotherhood.
